Before the first meeting of each month, the Board meets at 5 p.m. for a worksession and staff briefings. No business is transacted or votes taken during the work sessions.

Bedford County is located in the Piedmont region of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its county seat is the town of Bedford, which was an independent city from 1968 until rejoining the county in 2013. Local government is organized and governed by the Board of Supervisors and Constitutional Offices.
