Public Invited to Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Transportation Priorities

LYNCHBURG—The Central Virginia Transportation Planning Organization (CVTPO) in in the process of updating the region’s Long-Range Transportation Plan, which will identify and prioritize transportation needs in the area for the next twenty-five years (out to 2045). The plan covers the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and the City of Lynchburg.

Last updated five years ago, the current Long-Range Plan prioritized a number of high-profile projects that have been funded and are being designed, including much-anticipated improvements to the intersection of US 221 and US 501. The Long-Range Plan is a critical part of anticipating growth areas, determining how the region values various types of projects, and balancing safety, quality of life, the environment, and economic development.

Public participation is critical to the success of this plan, and members of the community are invited to participate in a live online town hall meeting on June 30, 2020 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. to inform local residents about the transportation planning process and how to comment on the update to the region's 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan. For more information on the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan and how to participate in the town hall, please visit www.connectcentralvirginia2045.com
