In Observance of Memorial Day, County Offices will be closed Monday, May 27, 2019


Public Notice: Please take notice that the Bedford County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a Work Session with VDOT on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 5:00 pm. This Work Session will be held in addition to the Regular Meeting already scheduled for that same evening at 7:00 pm.  Both the Work Session and the Regular Meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office located at 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA. The purpose of the Work Session will be to discuss road priorities.

Also, a Regular Meeting has been scheduled on June 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm. The Regular Meeting will be held in addition to the Work Session already scheduled for that same evening at 5:00 pm. Both the Work Session and the Regular Meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office located at 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA. The Regular Meeting was scheduled primarily to adopt the FY2019-20 budget; however, other items will likely be added to the Regular Meeting’s agenda as needed.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING ELECTION INFORMATION: All Bedford County Voting precincts will have a Republican Primary to select a candidate for Sheriff. Voting precincts in the 23rd House District will also select a candidate for the House of Delegates.

If you are not already registered to vote, Virginians must apply to register to vote (or update their registration name and current address) NO LATER THAN MAY 20, 2019.

For the convenience of registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot, your Voter Registration Office will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on June 8, 2019, in addition to normal business hours. Requests for Absentee Ballots by mail may be made no later than 5:00 pm on June 4, 2019.

If you are currently registered to vote, you do not need to re-register unless you have made a change to your address or name in which case you need to notify the Registrar in writing. You may also update your voter registration information on-line at the Department of Elections website at www.elections.virginia.gov.

Description

Responsible for performing a variety of duties related to health care, services, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) which promote, enhance, and maintain resident health and independence. Complies with established policies and procedures. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a licensed LPN or RN and under the general direction of the Director of Nurses.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements Include:

  • Requires completion of an approved Nurse Aide training program and Nurse Aide Certification from the Virginia Board of Professions. CNA’s work within the scope of practice as defined by the Virginia Board of Health Professions.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of residents, families, and staff.
  • Proficient in nursing assistant skills.
  • Heavy work requiring exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work requires balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
  • hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken words levels
  • Visual acuity is required for depth perception, color, small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities

    Preferred Experience includes:

  • Long term care experience preferred
