Assists the public at the service counter, provides technical office support and performs intermediate skilled clerical duties related to the processing and issuance of a variety of permit applications. Performs related duties as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.


Minimum Requirements Include:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Strong quality and service minded with considerable experience working with the public in a customer service setting.

  • Mathematical comprehension of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to count money.

  • Proficiency in business English and spelling with ability to read and comprehend instructions / correspondence and explain written documents.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and comprehensive knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.

  • Highly organized with ability to multi-task and handle a high volume of work and varying assignments with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to compose documents / spreadsheets, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve / backup important data accurately at a reasonable rate of speed.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to establish / maintain effective working relationships with employees, county officials, vendors, and the general public.

  • Light work requiring the ability to lift / move up to 20 pounds.

Preferred Experience includes:

  • Former working experience involving construction terminology, practices, and plans, and basic math.

  • General knowledge of permit processing

  • Sworn as a Notary Public
