Public Notice: Please take notice that the Bedford County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a Work Session with VDOT on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 5:00 pm. This Work Session will be held in addition to the Regular Meeting already scheduled for that same evening at 7:00 pm. Both the Work Session and the Regular Meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office located at 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA. The purpose of the Work Session will be to discuss road priorities.
Also, a Regular Meeting has been scheduled on June 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm. The Regular Meeting will be held in addition to the Work Session already scheduled for that same evening at 5:00 pm. Both the Work Session and the Regular Meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office located at 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA. The Regular Meeting was scheduled primarily to adopt the FY2019-20 budget; however, other items will likely be added to the Regular Meeting’s agenda as needed.
IMPORTANT UPCOMING ELECTION INFORMATION: All Bedford County Voting precincts will have a Republican Primary to select a candidate for Sheriff. Voting precincts in the 23rd House District will also select a candidate for the House of Delegates.
If you are not already registered to vote, Virginians must apply to register to vote (or update their registration name and current address) NO LATER THAN MAY 20, 2019.
For the convenience of registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot, your Voter Registration Office will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on June 8, 2019, in addition to normal business hours. Requests for Absentee Ballots by mail may be made no later than 5:00 pm on June 4, 2019.
If you are currently registered to vote, you do not need to re-register unless you have made a change to your address or name in which case you need to notify the Registrar in writing. You may also update your voter registration information on-line at the Department of Elections website at www.elections.virginia.gov.

Varied to meet needs of work load and department
Acts as a representative of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office assigned strictly to the SOVA-ICAC. Responsible for assisting with and/or planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the operations of information systems and electronic data processing by installing, maintaining and repairing computer hardware, software and networks for the SOVA-ICAC and designated affiliate agencies. Manages and provides hardware / software maintenance, training / consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources for the SOVA-ICAC program. Provides services in an effective and efficient manner to ensure maximum access to and implementation of technology and resources. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the SOVA-ICAC Commander and in his absence the Assistant Commander.
Minimum Requirements Include:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university with major course work in computer science, networking and network security; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience as determined by the ICAC Commander
If currently holding a Virginia law enforcement certification, must be able to maintain certification issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.Obtaining Virginia law enforcement certification, if the candidate is not currently certified, is not a requirement for this position.
Management and supervisory experience
Thorough knowledge of the design, installation, configuration and maintenance of:
Computer hardware and software systems and programs
Computer networks, network administration and network installation
Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license, proof of insurance, and acceptable driving record
Mandatory annual wellness examinations required due to the nature of the work
Ability to work extended hours and shifts as required, including nights and weekends
