Public Notice: The Bedford County Board of Supervisors has relocated its work session, scheduled for April 22nd at 5:00 pm, to Liberty Middle School’s cafeteria/auditorium, 1237 Lacey Putney Way, Bedford.

As advertised, VDOT’s public hearing beginning at 6:00 pm, and the Board’s regular meeting beginning at 7:00 pm (which will include the public hearing on the tax rate), are scheduled for that same evening and will also be held at this location.

Description

Candidate serves as a working supervisor and performs difficult skilled and technical work, while participating in housekeeping duties where needed. Supervises employees who are engaged in the care and cleaning of County buildings, facilities, and grounds. Responsibilities include coordinating and training personnel. Ensures adequate coverage of staff and inventory to accomplish tasks. Assists in procurement of services / materials, including the development and modification of housekeeping standards. Does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the General Properties Manager.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements Include:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Demonstrated experience in planning / supervising the work of subordinates
  • Prior experience in housekeeping with thorough knowledge of tools, cleaning materials, and equipment utilized in housekeeping programs
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of work
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, and the public
  • Requires the physical endurance to lift 50 lbs.
  • Requires a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Physical ability to perform manual work and lift 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly
  • Ability to move objects; climb, stoop, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and grasp
  • Ability to work independently

     

    Preferred Experience includes:

  • Two years stable work history
