Performs difficult skilled clerical work in the Office of the Circuit Court Clerk; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Clerk of Circuit Court.


Minimum Requirements Include:

  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and practices of the Office of the Clerk of Circuit Court.
  • Knowledge of Virginia laws and regulations and court proceeding of the Circuit Court.
  • Knowledge and research skills of the Circuit Court Clerk manuals provided by the Officer of the Executive Secretary and the Virginia Court's Clerks Association Education Committee.
  • General knowledge of the pertinent code sections normally involving the criminal division.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, math and office management.
  • Knowledge of the office equipment and systems uses in the Clerk's Office
  • General working knowledge of the Windows Operating System environment and Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Ability to plan and supervise others.

Preferred Experience includes:

  • Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and extensive experience in clerical work in a court setting.
