Public Notice: The Bedford County Board of Supervisors has relocated its work session (5:00 pm) and regular meeting (7:00 pm), scheduled for December 9, 2019, to Liberty High School’s auditorium, 100 Liberty Minutemen Drive, Bedford. This meeting has been moved to accommodate anticipated citizen attendance.


PLEASE NOTE that the agenda item regarding the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County resolution will be heard at the regular meeting, which begins at 7:00 pm. Liberty High School Is A Gun Free Zone At All Times; No Guns Are Permitted On School Grounds Or In School Facilities.

PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE: Per Sec. 2.2-3707 of the Virginia Code, this serves as notice that the Bedford County Planning Commission will hold public hearings on Monday, December 16th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.  in the Jefferson Forest High School Auditorium, located near the entrance for the Jefferson  Forest High School football stadium, directly across Perrowville Road from the entrance to Forest Elementary School (located on Perrowville Road) in Forest, Virginia.  The purpose of this meeting is to consider the creation of a new zoning  district (Airport); Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Zoning text amendment for setbacks; rezoning of nine parcels to the Airport District; and a Special Review Project regarding the broadband initiative.

  • More than two members of the Bedford County Board of Supervisors may be in  attendance.

Part Time – Must be available daily 7:00 am – 7:00 pm

Description

Performs responsible semiskilled and unskilled work maintaining residential collection centers, equipment and grounds. Assists residents in the proper disposal of waste and recyclable materials. Monitors and ensures sites are used by County residents. Operates refuse compactor. Opens facility and secures equipment, building and gates upon closing. Work is performed under regular supervision.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements Include:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the tenth grade.
  • Knowledge of the methods used in equipment operation
  • Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately
  • Dependability
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and general public
  • Medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Ability to stoop, crouch, reach, stand, walk, pull, and lift.
  • Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

    Preferred Experience includes:

  • Demonstrated stable work history.
