Public Notice: The Bedford County Board of Supervisors has relocated its work session (5:00 pm) and regular meeting (7:00 pm), scheduled for December 9, 2019, to Liberty High School’s auditorium, 100 Liberty Minutemen Drive, Bedford. This meeting has been moved to accommodate anticipated citizen attendance.

PLEASE NOTE that the agenda item regarding the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County resolution will be heard at the regular meeting, which begins at 7:00 pm. Liberty High School Is A Gun Free Zone At All Times; No Guns Are Permitted On School Grounds Or In School Facilities.

PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE: Per Sec. 2.2-3707 of the Virginia Code, this serves as notice that the Bedford County Planning Commission will hold public hearings on Monday, December 16th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.  in the Jefferson Forest High School Auditorium, located near the entrance for the Jefferson  Forest High School football stadium, directly across Perrowville Road from the entrance to Forest Elementary School (located on Perrowville Road) in Forest, Virginia.  The purpose of this meeting is to consider the creation of a new zoning  district (Airport); Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Zoning text amendment for setbacks; rezoning of nine parcels to the Airport District; and a Special Review Project regarding the broadband initiative.

  • More than two members of the Bedford County Board of Supervisors may be in  attendance.

Performs a wide variety of specialized professional and administrative duties to support the General Properties Division, which included Central Garage, Building Maintenance and Housekeeping. Serving as the office manager, works with considerable independence within the scope of established policies and procedures. Position requires discretion and diplomatic skill in representing policies and working effectively with County personnel, officials, and the public. Supervises and delegates the work of subordinate personnel. Work is performed under the general direction of the General Properties Manager with moderate latitude for independent judgement an action.


Minimum Requirements Include:

  • Any combination of education /experience equivalent to Associates degree with major course work in business management, accounting or related field
  • Extensive office operations / procedures experience including considerable supervisory experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general administrative policies and practices, office equipment and secretarial techniques
  • Ability to establish / maintain accurate records, files, and database systems.Requires compiling data and information to prepare summaries and reports using MS Office Suite
  • Ability to establish / maintain effective working relationships with county employees and the general public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills requiring reasonable tact, discretion, and self-expression. Must maintain professionalism, courtesy, and composure at all times, including stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license, proof of insurance required to drive on County business, and acceptable driving record

Preferred Experience includes:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in local government, automotive background, general property management, and/or housekeeping
  • Certified in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Notary Public
