Starting Monday, June 16, land clearing will begin at the New London Business & Technology Center as part of a site expansion project. This work will impact access to certain areas of the property, including some trails and parking areas.
The following areas will temporarily close during the clearing process, effective Monday morning (see map below):
- Green Loop Trail
- Blue-Orange Connector Trail
- Blue Loop Trail
- Small section of the Orange Loop located behind the power substation. This section will be rerouted in front of the substation via a newly established path.
The parking area at Trailhead #1 will permanently close due to the expansion. There is a new parking lot located near the entrance of the Center, immediately past the New London Emergency Services building.
All closed areas will be clearly marked with signs and roped off for your safety. Visitors are asked to remain on open trails and respect all posted closures.
Last year, the Bedford County Office of Economic Development received a $1.5 million grant from Governor Youngkin’s Virginia Business Ready Sites Program and a $750 thousand grant from the Tobacco Commission to further site development in the Center.
The project includes clearing Lots 15 and 16 and continuing the gravel extension of Meade Road, further enhancing the site's infrastructure and readiness for future business growth.
This phase of the expansion is anticipated to be completed by Feb. 2026.
