The Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) has announced that the greater Lynchburg region—through a partnership with Bedford County and the City of Lynchburg—has been selected to host two of the sport’s most prestigious events in 2026: the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) Champions Cup, April 9–12, and the DGPT Championship, Oct. 15–18.

Top disc golf athletes will compete on two world-class courses located in Bedford County. The New London Business & Technology Center course will host the PDGA Champions Cup, while the Ivy Hill Disc Golf Course will serve as the venue for the DGPT Championship. This historic announcement marks a rare occasion in professional disc golf, with two major events scheduled in the same location in the same year.

“These two, high-profile competitions will continue to put Bedford County on the map for disc golf,” said Bedford County’s Director of Tourism Nicole Johnson. “This is an unprecedented opportunity to showcase our community, generate significant economic impact, and reinforce our growing reputation as a premier disc golf destination.”

The PDGA Champions Cup is projected to generate $3.25 million in direct spending, drawing more than 600 professional players, support staff, and media representatives to the region. The DGPT Championship will add an estimated $2.04 million in direct spending, attracting over 400 participants and media to the area. Together, these events will welcome thousands of spectators from across the country.

The events are made possible thanks to sponsorship support from Bedford County and the City of Lynchburg, as well as the dedicated work by Bedford County Parks & Recreation. In 2025, their staff worked with six-time world champion disc golfer Paul McBeth to re-design the New London course to complement ongoing site development in the New London Business & Technology Center.
