Bedford 911 Communications Releases 2025 Statistics

Post Date:01/30/2026 1:58 PM
Bedford 911 Communications compiles yearly statistics to track the volume of calls from the community as well as the efficiencies of dispatchers.

Below is an overview of some of the statistics. You can download the full report here.

2025 Phone Calls

9-1-1: 29,273
Non-Emergency Inbound: 71,824
Non-Emergency Outbound: 26,345
Total: 127,442

2025 PSAP Answer Time 9-1-1 Lines

0-10 seconds: 95.37%
11-15 seconds: 3.05%
16-20 seconds: .82%
21-40 seconds: .67%
41-60 seconds: .08%
61-120 seconds: .01%

Answer time metric is part of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Standard for 9-1-1 Call Processing and is used as a performance benchmark, not a regulatory requirement. The answer time is measured from the moment the call arrives at Bedford Emergency Communications until two-way communication begins.

NENA Standards:

  • 90% of all 9-1-1 calls shall be answered within 15 seconds.
  • 95% of all 9-1-1 calls should be answered within 20 seconds.

2025 Calls for Service

These are calls for service entered in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system in 2025 that required a response by field personnel. These are not just phone calls as a call for service can account for several phone calls. Each entry represents an incident that required call processing, prioritization, dispatching, coordination, and documentation by communications staff.

Town of Bedford Police: 10,811
Bedford County Sheriff’s Office: 48,822
Bedford County Department of Fire and Rescue: 13,596
Bedford County Fire Marshal: 823
All other calls for service: 8464
Total: 82,516
