Virginia’s annual spring burning restrictions will be in effect February 15 through April 30 to help prevent wildfires during peak fire season.
Here’s what you need to know:
- No open-air burning between midnight and 4 p.m.
- Applies to fires within 300 feet of wooded areas or dry grass
- Burning is permitted from 4 p.m. to midnight with the proper safety precautions
- Violations may result in a Class 3 misdemeanor and fines
These seasonal restrictions are designed to reduce the risk of wildfires as warmer, windier conditions increase fire danger across the Commonwealth.
