Here are your top announcements from Bedford County government for March 2026:
Absentee, in-person voting for the April 21 special election on a proposed statewide constitutional amendment begins March 6.
Currently, early voting will take place at the Bedford County Parks & Recreation office, located at 1257 County Farm Rd., Bedford, through April 18. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting will also be available on Saturday, April 11, and Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Bedford County Board of Supervisors will begin focusing on the Fiscal Year 2027 budget this month.
Budget work sessions will occur in March and April. The Board typically adopts the budget in May.

Bedford County Parks & Recreation is excited to announce the launch of a new adult pickleball league beginning March 24.
The eight-week league is open to players with skill levels ranging from 2.75 to 4.0 and offers a great opportunity for friendly competition and community connection.

There are still a limited number of tickets available for the Daddy-Daughter Dance on Saturday, March 7.
Fathers and father figures are invited to this special event at the Bedford County Gym (1059 Turning Point Rd., Bedford).
Admission is $20 per couple and $5 for each additional daughter. Purchase tickets here.
The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual Shred It and Drug Take Back events beginning in March.
These events give residents the opportunity to safely dispose of unused or expired medications. 1st Choice Shredding will also be on site to assist with secure disposal of personal documents. The events are free; however, donations of canned or nonperishable food and pet food are encouraged.

Virginia’s 4 p.m. Burning Law remains in effect through April 30.
This annual law prohibits open-air burning before 4 p.m. if the fire is within 300 feet of woods or dry grass that could carry fire to wooded areas. Burning is permitted between 4 p.m. and midnight, provided proper precautions are taken and the fire is attended at all times.
Violation of the 4 p.m. Burning Law is a Class 3 misdemeanor and may result in a fine of up to $500.
