Here are your top announcements from Bedford County, VA government for April 2026:
There will be a special election for a proposed statewide amendment on Tuesday, April 21.
Early voting is available through April 18 at the Bedford County Parks & Rec Office (1257 County Farm Rd., Bedford). Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 11, and Saturday, April 18.
On Election Day, voters must cast their ballots at their assigned polling places. To find your polling location, visit www.bedfordcountyva.gov/votingmap.
The New London Tech Disc Golf Course and some trails in the New London Business & Technology Center will be closed from April 3-13.
The Professional Disc Golf Association’s Champions Cup will be held on the course from April 9-13. This event is hosted by Bedford County and the City of Lynchburg.
Closed trails will be clearly marked during this time.
Spring brush collection will be underway from April 15 through May 15 at Bedford County’s full-service waste convenience centers.
Accepted materials include limbs, branches, and leaves.

Virginia’s 4.p.m. Burning Law continues through April 30.
This annual law bans open-air burning prior to 4 p.m. if the fire is within 300 feet of the woods or dry grass which could carry fire to the woods.

Bedford County Parks & Recreation’s Thrive Outside Festival returns to Falling Creek Park on Saturday, April 11.
From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., visitors can meet local vendors, participate in workshops, and take part in activities for the whole family.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office will host another Shred It & Drug Take Back Event in April
These events allow residents to safely dispose of any unused or expired medications. 1st Choice Shredding will also be on site to assist with the proper disposal of personal papers.
