The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a disaster declaration for numerous Virginia localities following the severe snow, ice, and other weather conditions that occurred on January 17, 2026. Bedford County is one of the localities that qualifies for assistance under this declaration.
Eligible family farmers in Bedford County may apply for emergency physical loss loan assistance through the Farm Service Agency (FSA). These loans are designed to help those who have experienced severe physical damage.

Applications will be accepted through December 7, 2026.
