The Bedford County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 7 p.m., to hear from the community about plans to convey the former Centra Hospice House to Good Samaritan Hospice, Inc.

Bedford County has owned the 1.5-acre property located at 1025 Turning Point Road, Bedford, since 1832. Centra operated hospice services at the facility from 2016 until closing the location in April 2026.

Following the closure, Bedford County began discussions with Good Samaritan Hospice, Inc. about acquiring the property. If approved by the Board of Supervisors, Good Samaritan Hospice plans to reopen the facility to provide hospice care, palliative care, and additional services.

The public hearing will take place during the Supervisors’ regular meeting on July 28, 2026, at 7 p.m. Regular meetings are held in the County Administration Building’s third-floor meeting room (122 East Main St., Bedford).
