Bedford County has been recognized as one of the nation's leading local governments for the use of technology, earning the #2 ranking in the 2026 Digital Counties Survey conducted by the Center for Digital Government, part of Government Technology. The County was recognized in the Up to 150,000 Population category.

The recognition marks a significant achievement for Bedford County, which improved from #7 in 2025 to #2 in 2026. Bedford County's advancement in the rankings reflects the collaborative efforts of departments across the organization and the County's continued commitment to innovation and responsible technology management.
