In Observance of Memorial Day, County Offices will be closed Monday, May 27, 2019


Public Notice: Please take notice that the Bedford County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a Work Session with VDOT on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 5:00 pm. This Work Session will be held in addition to the Regular Meeting already scheduled for that same evening at 7:00 pm.  Both the Work Session and the Regular Meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office located at 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA. The purpose of the Work Session will be to discuss road priorities.

Also, a Regular Meeting has been scheduled on June 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm. The Regular Meeting will be held in addition to the Work Session already scheduled for that same evening at 5:00 pm. Both the Work Session and the Regular Meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office located at 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA. The Regular Meeting was scheduled primarily to adopt the FY2019-20 budget; however, other items will likely be added to the Regular Meeting’s agenda as needed.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING ELECTION INFORMATION: All Bedford County Voting precincts will have a Republican Primary to select a candidate for Sheriff. Voting precincts in the 23rd House District will also select a candidate for the House of Delegates.

If you are not already registered to vote, Virginians must apply to register to vote (or update their registration name and current address) NO LATER THAN MAY 20, 2019.

For the convenience of registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot, your Voter Registration Office will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on June 8, 2019, in addition to normal business hours. Requests for Absentee Ballots by mail may be made no later than 5:00 pm on June 4, 2019.

If you are currently registered to vote, you do not need to re-register unless you have made a change to your address or name in which case you need to notify the Registrar in writing. You may also update your voter registration information on-line at the Department of Elections website at www.elections.virginia.gov.

Invitations for Bids 

Sealed bids for the proposed "Corporate Park Drive Extension" will be received by Bedford County in the Ground Floor Meeting Room, 122 East Main Street, Bedford, VA, until 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018, and then publicly opened and read. This project includes roadway improvements in Bedford County.

This project shall be constructed in accordance with: the plans; the Virginia Department of Transportation Road and Bridge Specifications, dated 2016; the Virginia Department of Transportation Road and Bridge Standards, dated 2016; the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual, dated 2011 (rev. April 2015); the 2011 Edition of the MUTCD and Virginia Supplement; and the Supplemental Specifications, Special Provisions and Special Provision Copied Notes in this contract.

Contract documents consisting of plans and specifications and bid proposal forms can be seen at the offices of Hurt & Proffitt, Inc., 2524 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501, 434-847-7796. A complete set of documents for the Project may be downloaded free of charge from: http://www.handp.com/contact/bids .

Printed plans and specifications for the above project may be obtained from Hurt & Proffitt, Inc.  No partial sets of Contract Documents will be provided. Contract Documents may be obtained for a non-refundable fee of $200 per set.  Payment shall be sent to Hurt & Proffitt, Inc. and shall indicate if sender is a general contractor or other than a general contractor. Please include your complete street address with zip code for use for hand delivery, as well as your complete mailing address with zip code, to avoid delay in transmittals. Also include telephone and facsimile numbers, with area code, and your e-mail address.  

An optional Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018, in the Main Floor Meeting Room, 122 East Main Street, Bedford, VA.
