Public Notice: The Bedford County Board of Supervisors has relocated its work session, scheduled for April 22nd at 5:00 pm, to Liberty Middle School’s cafeteria/auditorium, 1237 Lacey Putney Way, Bedford.

As advertised, VDOT’s public hearing beginning at 6:00 pm, and the Board’s regular meeting beginning at 7:00 pm (which will include the public hearing on the tax rate), are scheduled for that same evening and will also be held at this location.

The intent of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to obtain the services of a qualified tower, maintenance, management and marketing service provider (“Consultant”) to assist the Authority with the ongoing operations of a county-wide fixed wireless broadband access system. The Authority has negotiated a public-private partnership with Blue Ridge Towers, Inc. (BRT), to manage the architectural/engineering, development, and construction portions of the tower network build-out. It has also negotiated a long-term agreement with Blue Ridge Internet Service Company (BRISCNET) to provide internet service through fixed-wireless technology to the public.

The successful proposer will fulfill the roles of: Communications Site Manager to include but not limited to: maintaining the towers and facilities; perform all leasing and negotiations, managing collocated tenants on the towers to include lease provisions, act as liaison for the Broadband Authority and land holders which the towers are located; marketing tower space to potential service providers; and, acting as liaison between BRT, County Staff, and the County Broadband Authority (Authority). These services can be provided solely though the successful proposer itself or through consortium of subcontractors providing some of the services. In any event, the Authority is seeking a consolidated proposal for all services from submitters.
