The Bedford County Board of Supervisors hasmoved the public hearing on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 7:00 p. m. to the auditorium of Liberty High School, 100 Liberty Minutemen Drive, Bedford, VA, to discuss the possible exchange of property between the County of Bedford, Virginia and the Bedford Regional Water Authority. Specifically, the County of Bedford will convey a portion of Tax Map No. 147-A-40 and all of Tax Map No. 147-A-40A located on Falling Creek Road in exchange for Tax Map No. 127B-1-17 located on McGhee Road from the Bedford Regional Water Authority. PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE: Per Sec. 2.2-3707 of the Virginia Code, this serves as notice that the Bedford County Planning Commission will hold public hearings on Monday, December 16th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Forest High School Auditorium, located near the entrance for the Jefferson Forest High School football stadium, directly across Perrowville Road from the entrance to Forest Elementary School (located on Perrowville Road) in Forest, Virginia. The purpose of this meeting is to consider the creation of a new zoning district (Airport); Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Zoning text amendment for setbacks; rezoning of nine parcels to the Airport District; and a Special Review Project regarding the broadband initiative.
More than two members of the Bedford County Board of Supervisors may be in attendance.

Parks and Recreation held the annual Senior Christmas Social yesterday at the Bedford Moose Lodge. Seniors enjoyed bluegrass and Christmas music from the Blue Collar Boys, refreshments, door prizes, Christmas bingo and even a visit from Santa Claus himself!
Falling Creek Park is the first park to be developed by the County and, as such, is its signature park. The development of the park had assistance through a $200,000 matching grant from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. This park is located in a beautiful setting with magnificent views and is centrally located within the County and in close proximity to the Town of Bedford. The park has a 36 hole disc golf course, extensive tails for runners and bikes, a bmx course, playground, and beautiful picnic shelters. The park is easily accessible via vehicular traffic from Route 460 to Falling Creek Road.
