  • On July 2, 2019 at 9:00 am, two or more members of the Bedford County Board of Supervisors may be in attendance at the opening of the new Thaxton Convenience Site, 1191 Thaxton School Road, Thaxton, VA.
  • Please take notice that the Bedford County Board of Supervisors Town Relations Ad Hoc Committee will meet on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the Board Conference Room of the County Administration Building located at 122 East Main Street, Bedford, Virginia. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss general matters of interest to the Town and County.


    Please take notice that the Bedford County Board of Supervisors Personnel Committee will meet on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 4:00 pm. The meeting will be held in the Board Conference Room of the County Administration Building located at 122 East Main Street, Bedford, Virginia. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the Nursing Home, Solid Waste, potential policy changes, and other pay-related matters.

Bedford County Parks & Adult Programs

You are viewing the new Bedford County Parks and Recreation website and we invite you to explore it and learn more about our Department and the benefits that you can experience by visiting a park, playing a sport, participating in a programming activity, taking a trip or enjoying some other leisure activity. The website will provide you with a variety of information, allow you to register for many of our programs online and to make reservations to use various picnic shelters and other facilities. The site will be updated on a regular basis and a calendar listing events can be viewed.

LOCATION

The department office is located at 1257 County Farm Rd. which is adjacent to Falling Creek Park. The facility is under going some renovations to better facilitate the staff and to provide space for a variety of programming opportunities including art classes and various exercise classes for all ages. There will be meeting space for your group and the department is coordinating with other organizations in order to provide space within the facility to serve as a resource center for senior adults.

With the Bob Ross method of Oil Painting, you will complete each painting in just one class. Even people who have never painted before can do this although more experienced people will also enjoy the classes. Each painting is done on a 16x20 inch canvas (unless otherwise specified) using Bob Ross supplies. Students must supply own 16x20 inch canvas and paper towels, all other supplies included. Fee: $75.00 per person. Please call Stuart Saunders at (540) 586-7682 to register. All classes are held at the Forest Recreation Center.
