The Bedford County Parks and Recreation Department (BCPRD) along with our local partners will be offering various recreational and life enhancing programs for Bedford County's over 50 years of age residents. A diverse selection of educational classes will be offered and are designed to improve the quality of life for county residents over 50 years of age. The BCPRD encourages all residents to review what opportunities are available.
If you are 50 years or older and like to socialize and play Bingo, then this is the place for you. The Bedford County Parks and Recreation Department offers Bingo 3 times a month at 3 locations. Forest Recreation Center (2nd Tuesday), Moneta Rescue Squad (3rd Wednesday), and the Bedford Moose Lodge (4th Thursday). Lunch is served at all locations so come and bring your favorite dish to share.This program runs from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Cost is $1.00 per card with a limit of 4 cards per person. Bedford County Parks and Recreation will be hosting a session of yoga classes done in and beside a chair. Just how effectively can you can move your joints, stretch your muscles, and improve your health and wellness in a chair? You’ll be surprised! This class is perfect if you consider your body’s care an investment, or if you are experiencing issues that limit your movement, or if you are simply curious about yoga and its benefits. Open to all, regardless of age, gender, size, abilities or limitations.

Passport to Health is your invitation to a healthier lifestyle. This area health fair is the combined efforts of the University of Lynchburg faculty, students, health care professionals, local agencies, and area Parks and Recreation Departments to bring you a variety of information and opportunities to improve your health. This one day event is just the beginning as participants are invited to join a free 6 week fitness plan including education and exercise, with pre and post assessments to gauge their individual success.
