PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: (We are sending out this notice due to the meeting having been moved since this public hearing was originally advertised.)

The Bedford County Board of Supervisors has moved the public hearing on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 7:00 p. m. to the auditorium of Liberty High School, 100 Liberty Minutemen Drive, Bedford, VA, to discuss the possible exchange of property between the County of Bedford, Virginia and the Bedford Regional Water Authority. Specifically, the County of Bedford will convey a portion of Tax Map No. 147-A-40 and all of Tax Map No. 147-A-40A located on Falling Creek Road in exchange for Tax Map No. 127B-1-17 located on McGhee Road from the Bedford Regional Water Authority.  For additional information please contact Patrick J. Skelley II, County Attorney at (540) 587-5699.  (This public hearing was originally scheduled to take place at the Bedford County Administration, but has been moved with the rest of the meeting to accommodate anticipated citizen attendance.).



PLEASE NOTE that the agenda item regarding the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County resolution will be heard at the regular meeting, which begins at 7:00 pm. Liberty High School Is A Gun Free Zone At All Times; No Guns Are Permitted On School Grounds Or In School Facilities.

PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE: Per Sec. 2.2-3707 of the Virginia Code, this serves as notice that the Bedford County Planning Commission will hold public hearings on Monday, December 16th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.  in the Jefferson Forest High School Auditorium, located near the entrance for the Jefferson  Forest High School football stadium, directly across Perrowville Road from the entrance to Forest Elementary School (located on Perrowville Road) in Forest, Virginia.  The purpose of this meeting is to consider the creation of a new zoning  district (Airport); Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Zoning text amendment for setbacks; rezoning of nine parcels to the Airport District; and a Special Review Project regarding the broadband initiative.

  • More than two members of the Bedford County Board of Supervisors may be in  attendance.

Bedford County Parks & Recreation Trips Program

2019 TRIPS


The Bedford County Parks and Recreation Department offers various day and overnight trips throughout the year for Bedford County residents. The BCPRD has an 18 passenger bus and access to small passenger vans for transportation on county sponsored trips. The BCPRD also sponsors some overnight and day trips with the use of larger charter buses in partnership with travel agencies.

Lunch Trip
Thursday, August 8 – Great 611 Steak House


Cost is $5.00 per person per trip unless otherwise noted. Lunch will be on your own. All lunch trips depart the Westgate Shopping Center at 11:00 a.m. Your seat is confirmed when payment is received and seats are assigned in the order payment is received. Cheese Shop Trip
Thursday, August 15


Bedford County Parks & Recreation will sponsor a trip to the Cheese Shop in Stuarts Draft on Thursday, August 15. We will also visit the Little Debbie Outlet and the Shenandoah Farmers Market in Mt. Crawford. Lunch will be at the Wood Grill Restaurant. Cost per person is $25.00 which includes your transportation on the Parks & Rec bus and lunch at the Wood Grill. Call Bedford County Parks & Rec at 586-7682 for additional information or stop by our office at 1257 County Farm Rd. Payment must accompany registration. Bus will depart at 8:00 a.m. from the Westgate Shopping Center.

Historic Lynchburg Tour
Thursday, August 29

 
Join Bedford County Parks and Recreation as we tour historic sites in Lynchburg, VA. We will make a stop at the Lynchburg Museum where you will learn about the history and culture of Lynchburg and the surrounding area. We will also stop at Historic Sandusky where you will learn how they are preserving the history of the civil war and 19th century American life. In between we will stop for lunch in downtown lynchburg (on your own). Cost is $10.00 per participant. Bus will depart the Westgate shopping center at 9:30 a.m.

“The Man Who Moved A Mountain”
Rock Churches of Blue Ridges Buffalo Mountain
Saturday, September 7

Join us on Saturday, September 7, as we travel to Floyd, VA and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will focus on the four of the six historical rock churches built by the Rev. Bob Childress.  Price per person is $10.00 and includes transportation on the County Recreation Bus, and tour of four historical rock churches. We will stop in Floyd, VA for lunch (on your own). Virginia Dare Cruise
Tuesday, September 24th

Bedford County Parks and Recreation will sponsor a trip on the Virginia Dare Cruise on Tuesday, September 24. Come enjoy the beautiful fall scenery on Smith Mountain Lake while enjoying good food, drink and a festive atmosphere.  The enclosed decks have large panoramic windows, so you won’t miss any of the lake’s interesting sights.  Cost per person is $50.00 which includes transportation and food on the Virginia Dare. Bus will depart at 11:00 a.m. from the Westgate Shopping Center.
