ATTENTION VOTER: Important Information regarding Absentee Voting for the 2019 General Election Begins Friday


Public Notice:  Please take note that at the Board of Supervisors regular meeting on October 21, 2019 has been rescheduled for October 28, 2019, beginning at 7:00 pm; a work session beginning at 5:00 pm has been added that night as well.  Both meetings will be held in the Boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office, 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA.


Public Notice: Please take notice the Board of Supervisors has added a Worksession on October 28, 2019 at 5:00 pm in the boardroom of the Bedford County Administration Office, 122 E. Main Street, Bedford, VA for a presentation regarding the Smith Mountain Lake Center and a discussion regarding CAD RMS software.  (The Regular Meeting already scheduled for the same evening at 7:00 pm will still be held as well.)

Public Notice: Please take note the Board of Supervisors November 7, 2019 CIP work session with the School Board has been moved to November 14, 2019, beginning at 5:00 pm. This meeting will be held in the Ground Floor Meeting Room of the Bedford County Administration Building, 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA.

The entire list of Board meetings for the remainder of the year is as follows:

  • October            28th        Work session at 5:00 pm; Regular Meeting at 7:00 pm (both meetings will be in the Boardroom) (moved from 10/21)
  • November       14th      (Thursday) CIP Work Session with School Board– beginning at 5:00 pm (moved from 11/7)
  •                         25th       Regular Meeting

December        9th        Regular Meeting (Work Session 5:00 to 6:30 pm)


Residential waste is collected through a network of waste drop-off sites and full – service collection centers. Residents may deposit normal household waste at 25 collection sites located at convenient locations throughout the County. Businesses and out-of-county residents are not allowed to use these collection centers.


Bedford County Collection Sites that are open 24 hours a day for depositing bagged household waste only:

  • Bunker Hill 1833 Bunker Hill Loop, Bedford
  • Whitehouse 2967 Fairview Church Road, Huddleston
  • Hardy 202 Bandy Mill Road, Hardy 
  • Huddleston 1098 Whistlestop Way, Huddleston
  • Body Camp 2673 Wilson Church Road, Bedford
  • Coleman Falls 5514 Lee Jackson Hwy, Coleman Falls
  • Glenwood 2602 Glenwood Drive, Bedford
  • Northside 5316 Peaks Road, Bedford
  • Leesville Lake 5573 Chellis Ford Road, Lynch Station

Seven of the County collection centers are full service and allow disposal of bagged household waste, furniture and appliances(TV’s, washers and dryers, water heaters, household furniture) and recycling. All of these sites are open daily 7AM-7PM with attendants on duty to help residents with any questions that they may have.

Spring Yard Waste Collection is from April 15 – May 15 and Fall Yard Waste Collection is from October 15 – November 15. (Limbs, branches, leaves, grass clippings are examples of items that are accepted).
