In June 2026, construction was completed on a new building next to the Registrar’s Office on Turning Point Road. The new building will serve as the new Early Vote Center for Bedford County voters. It will also be used for voter equipment storage and training for election workers. Learn more in this news release.

Early voting for all elections was previously held at the Bedford County Gym on Turning Point Road. Due to the requirements for early voting many weeks before Election Day, this affected Parks & Recreation programs for months out of the year. The Bedford County Gym may still be used for high turnout elections.

The primary goal of a capital improvement plan (CIP) is to strategically allocate resources for long-term capital projects, ensuring that infrastructure and facilities are maintained, upgraded, and expanded to meet the evolving needs of the community or organization. These larger projects are found in the CIP and are funded through the capital budget, versus the operating budget. Government bodies, including Bedford County, plan and save for these projects for several years.
