No. Bedford County citizens can use the convenience centers for disposal of household waste and recycling services. Have proof of residency (driver's license, utility bill, car registration, etc.) available if asked.
I live in the Town of Bedford. Am I allowed to use Bedford County Convenience Centers and Waste Management Facility?
Yes. All Town citizens are offered the same waste services as Bedford County citizens.
Does Bedford County have mulch available for citizens?
No. Bedford County does not have mulch available.
Does Bedford County provide shredding services for citizens?
No. A private shredding company can help with shredding services.
Does Bedford County offer any type of trash pick up service for citizens?
No. Residents/businesses must contact a third-party hauler to have trash picked up from their address.

Recycling
Does Bedford County accept Plastic # 1-7 for recycling?
No. Bedford County only accepts #1 & #2 BOTTLES. Bedford County operates a Materials Recycling Facility and the company that buys our recycling products only accepts #1 or #2 BOTTLES.
How do I know which plastics I can recycle?
Look on the bottom of the container. There will be a number surrounded by arrows. That number must be a 1 or 2 to be accepted in Bedford County.
Some common plastics that are NOT accepted are:
Clear containers that hold fresh fruit
Laundry or dishwasher POD containers
Yogurt containers
Plastic bags
How do I know which aluminum containers are accepted?
We accept both aluminum or steel cans/bottles.
We do NOT accept:
Disposable pie/baking tins
Cat food cans
Paint cans
Old pots and pans
Are all types of cardboard accepted?
We do not accept wax-covered cardboard. Also, please remove all styrofoam from any boxes.

We accept old computers, printers/copiers, TVs, smaller lawn equipment (must be drained of all fluids), and treadmills/exercise equipment at our full-service centers. Find a list of full-service centers here.
No. Tires must be brought to the Waste Management Facility. Residents are charged a flat fee of $3.00/tire and the maximum size we can accept is a 22-inch diameter.
