The following items are accepted at our waste convenience centers that offer recycling services. Please note that all recyclables must be separated by material.
- Mixed paper: Envelopes, food boxes, magazines, office paper, etc. (Not accepted: Newspaper/inserts, wax-coated boxes, paper contaminated with food. Must separate at Forest Convenience Center.)
- Cardboard: Clean, corrugated cardboard. (Not accepted: cardboard with food, oil, or other contaminants on it. Must separate at Forest Convenience Center.)
- Newspapers and Inserts: Keep newspapers and inserts clean and dry. (Not accepted: Other paper material or cardboard, plastic bags, wire, string, or rope. Must separate at Forest Convenience Center.)
- Glass Containers: Clear, green, and brown glass jars or bottles. Please empty and rinse. Labels do not need to be removed.
- Aluminum and Steel Cans: Remove all contents and rinse. (Not accepted: Other steel items, paint cans or aerosol cans.)
- Plastics Bottles Only: Clear and green soft drink bottles. Opaque water and milk jugs and colored laundry detergent bottles and/or shampoo bottles. Rinse and remove lids before depositing into recycling bin. (Not accepted: Plastics that are not bottled such as fruit containers or yogurt containers. Bottles must have a “neck.”)
- Clothing and Shoes: All types of used women’s and men’s clothing and shoes. Tax receipts are issued by Bedford Domestic Violence.
